Gerard de la Garde BA MSc
Gerard joined YSC in October 2000 after a long career as a leader in the police service. This included operational command, leadership of divisions of the Metropolitan Police, management consultancy in Europe and Africa and some specialist management training roles. He gained extensive experience of developing and mentoring senior managers in both the specialist and the operational roles. Gerard became a member of the Board of National Police Training in 1998 as executive director with responsibility for managing the training and development of senior police officers nationally. Since joining YSC, Gerard has been based in the London office but has worked extensively overseas - in Europe, USA, Africa and the Middle East. The two overseas countries he has worked in most are the United Arab Emirates and France. He is fluent in French and has extensive experience working with executives in that language. Overall, in his five years with YSC, he has assessed and coached scores of executives from multi-national corporations. This has encompassed a variety of business sectors, including the oil industry. Gerard is particularly interested in the effects of major career transitions and is currently researching the ways that executives either benefit from them or struggle with them.
