dots YSC Transition Coaching

Major job transitions can be a roller-coaster experience - and there is far more risk of derailment than in most fairground rides!

The transition goes through five steps: the Pre-entry, Honeymoon, Downturn, Letting Go, and Flow.

This is what the typical transition curve looks like (click on the sections of the graph with your mouse for more detail):

Transitions

YSC has a lot of experience and expertise in coaching executives through challenging transitions. The first six months of any new role is make or break. Psynergy's Transition Coaching Model takes our psychological insights into what makes a successful transition and builds them into a powerful, focused and time-limited intervention that maximises success.

We use a three- or four-stage coaching process which addresses the emotional and intellectual adjustment of the individual in the context of the organisational reality of the new position including the politics and culture. An important part of this is our knowledge of the all-too-common TRAPS to avoid and the TASKS that need to be accomplished in the first 6 months.

Our overall aim is to support executives through this critical period, to ensure a successful adaptation to a new role with effective delivery of results. Our phasing of this coaching is based on the different challenges that a transition presents, as it is worked through - i.e. Arrival, Assimilation and Accomplishment. In some cases (where we are involved before the new position commences) there is a pre-Arrival phase.
